41 Common Cooking Mistakes via Cooking Light
I just came across this article from Cooking Light called The Most Common Cooking Mistakes and wanted to share it since paleo eating usually involves a TON of cooking. I didn’t realize how much more cooking I would be doing when I decided to go paleo and hopefully this article will help some of you who are cooking challenged. Not being able to cook is a poor excuse for not...

The Importance Of Sleep (Infographic)
Getting a good night’s sleep is very underrated and, if you’re following a paleo/primal lifestyle, good sleep is the cornerstone of good health. Here’s a great infographic about the importance of getting a good night’s sleep from Frugal Dad.  Source: http://frugaldad.com

First Paleo Memphis Meet Up
The first Paleo Memphis meet-up is scheduled for March 3rd, 2012 from 2-3pm at the Starbucks on Poplar at I-240 near the Olive Garden (Google Map). The meeting will be very informal but I hope it will provide an opportunity for people to get to know other paleo enthusiasts. I plan on bringing a few name tags since I’m terrible with names! Also, you don’t have to plan on staying the...

Sustainable Seas Tuna at Kroger
I was inspired to make these Tuna and avocado wraps from Nom Nom Paleo so I was very excited when I found wild, pole-caught tuna from Sustainable Seas at Kroger. The cans were more expensive than your traditional tuna but well worth it my opinion. I think each can was about $2.50 compared to the ~$1.25-$1.50 for the other stuff. The BPA-free can was icing on the cake.  Here’s a excerpt...

My Jawbone UP Kicked The Bucket
My Jawbone Up kicked the bucket last night. I charged it up for a long times yesterday but to no avail. The batteries failed to charge and the device isn’t working any more after a short 6 weeks of use.  I really thought that the Jawbone UP would help me, or anyone else, live a better paleo lifestyle and my first impressions of the product were quite good. I was optimistic that I had one...

The Burger Joint Now Open In Memphis →
I’m not advocating for all the non-paleo food there but I’m happy to see “award winning blend of prime, dry-aged, all natural, hormone free, grain-fed beef” on their menu. I’d prefer it be grass-fed beef and, that they source it from local farms but I think it’s a great move in the right direction. Maybe people will become more interested in better beef and...

Types of Magnesium for the Paleo Diet
In this post I want to discuss the different kinds of magnesium available to help you make the right purchase. I won’t get into all of them today but, there are at least 7 different types of magnesium (maybe more) available in oral supplements. They include magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium carbonate, magnesium citrate, magnesium lactate, magnesium chloride, and magnesium...

Paleo Creamy Chicken Tomato Crockpot Soup
I found this recipe on Everyday Paleo and I wanted to share because it’s so simple to make and very hearty. It’s so simple because it only has 4 main ingredients; frozen chicken breasts, a can of coconut milk, a can of diced tomatoes, and a cup of chicken broth. Then you add in a few seasonings, cook on low for 8-9 hours and you’re done. Super simple.  Also, if you have a...

Kettlebells for the Whole Family
I finally broke down and bought my kids, my wife, and I each a kettlebell. I know they’re a staple among the Crossfit folks out there and, after reading about the many benefits of kettlebells, I wanted to pick up some for the family. Time is always an issue in our house and, anything that can combine cardio and strength training in one move, all the better. Plus, I’m all about...
