Hi - My name is Tyler and I’m a husband, a father to two daughters, a photographer, and MBA student, and now a paleo eater in a non-paleo family.

Paleo Memphis was born as a way for me to stay on track with my new lifestyle while, at the same time, grow a community of paleo/primal practitioners in Memphis and the surrounding communities. Memphis isn’t known as the healthiest city to live so I plan on gathering and sharing paleo inspired news and reviews for people in the area looking to live a more sustainable lifestyle.

A little background on me and why I’ve embraced the paleo lifestyle. I’m an average guy, of average health and, while my father is overweight he’s somewhat healthy as well. However, I don’t want to ever gain the weight and battle with cholesterol, gout, and all the other fun things that come with being overweight. I’m young enough now that I plan on losing the fat now and keeping it off for good. Did I mention that his dad died of colon cancer? Yea, that’s something else I’d like to avoid.

My grandparents, on my mom’s side of the family, both died of congestive heart failure, complications with cancer and old age. I’m hoping that a life of paleo eating will, in the long run, pay off in my old age. I want to be here as long as I can for my kids and my grand kids.

I’m trying to slowly convince my wife to get on board as Alzheimer’s runs in her family on her dad’s side. Her interest was piqued because in The Paleo Solution Robb states that a paleo diet can help ward off the effects of Alzheimer’s. Hopefully she’ll come around. If I can win her over my next challenge will be the kid’s diet!

Besides long-term health benefits, I’m hoping that living a paleo lifestyle will help with mood swings, a short-temper, feeling tired all the time, and general irritability. So far I have felt more relaxed and much more energized since eating better and I hope the trends continue.

Feel free to contact me if you want to ask a question, make a suggestion, or to just say hi. I hope to hear from you.

Tyler
