I finally broke down and bought my kids, my wife, and I each a kettlebell. I know they’re a staple among the Crossfit folks out there and, after reading about the many benefits of kettlebells, I wanted to pick up some for the family. Time is always an issue in our house and, anything that can combine cardio and strength training in one move, all the better. Plus, I’m all about combining muscle groups versus isolating one set of muscles at a time.

I’ve only done a couple workouts but, after both times, I’ve come away exhausted and pretty sore the following day. Hopefully this will be a good influence on my kids and make them want to grab their little 5 pounder. They love it - you should see my 3-year-old try to lift it!

Although kettlebells are pretty expensive (the 30-pound cost ~$70) it’s a lot cheaper than joining a gym and I bet they’ll last just short of forever. That’s good because there’s about 23,000 kettlebell exercise videos on YouTube!
