Our house has been occupied by both Fruit Loops and Apple Jacks in the past but no more! Luckily my kids don’t eat much cereal to begin with but we’re definitely staying away from these from now on.

thedailyfeed: Did you know Froot Loops is more than 40% sugar? And it’s not even the worst! A new study says you’re better off eating chocolate chip cookies for breakfast than these cereals.

This is a great look at the diet of the average American. Honestly, I’m surprised we eat 415 punds of vegetables and 273 pounds of fruit per year - that seems high to me. Also notice that corn makes up almost 14% of the vegetables and corn syrup accounts for a staggering 30% of sweeteners! Wow.
Looking at this makes me happy to embark on the paleo style of eating! If I could use Illustrator I’d love to make one of these for the typical primal/paleo eater

This Is What You Eat in a Year (Including 42 Pounds of Corn Syrup)

Yesterday a good, long-time friend of mine, who’s my age, told me that his doctor’s office called to deliver some very bad news. They told him that his pre-diabetes had developed into full-scale adult onset Type-2 diabetes. I don’t remember all the results from his blood work but his levels were not good at all - I felt terrible for him.
My mind quickly turned what I’ve read in Robb’s book, The Paleo Solution and, although I don’t remember every technical aspect of insulin dependency and liver damage, I recommended to him that he pick up a copy and give it a read. Also, on hearing his news I was determined to not let that happen to me or anyone in my family.
I’m trying to gather up some informative links to share with him so if you, or someone you know, is a diabetic and follows the paleo style of eating, please let me know. I’m not in a position to know enough about how the two go together so any helpful links, articles, or blogs you have would be very helpful.
Have a great weekend everyone!
